What it is, how it works, how it compares to 9GAG, Reddit, Instagram and Twitter — every question answered.
MemeDome is a dedicated meme-sharing platform where users upload, discover, vote on, and compete with memes. Unlike general social networks, MemeDome is built exclusively for meme culture — featuring daily meme battles, a points leaderboard, community forums, AI-powered caption generation, and creator rewards. It launched as an alternative to platforms like 9GAG, Reddit, and Instagram for people who want a meme-first experience.
Yes, MemeDome is free to join and use. A free account gives you full access to upload memes, enter daily battles, earn points, follow creators, join communities, and participate in forums. A Premium tier is available for users who want to remove ads, earn an exclusive badge, and support the platform.
MemeDome is for anyone who loves memes — whether you're a casual viewer who wants a clean feed of funny content, a creator who wants recognition and rewards for their work, or a community builder who wants to connect with people who share the same sense of humour. It's especially well-suited to creators frustrated by memes getting buried in algorithm-driven general social feeds.
Yes. MemeDome has community guidelines that prohibit hate speech, violence, harassment, sexual exploitation, and spam. Content is moderated by a dedicated team and users can report violations using the flag button on any post. Serious violations result in permanent bans. The platform requires users to be at least 13 years old.
MemeDome differs from 9GAG in three key ways. First, MemeDome has daily competitive meme battles where creators submit memes on a theme, the community votes, and winners earn points and badges — 9GAG has no equivalent competitive system. Second, MemeDome rewards creators directly with a points system, leaderboard rankings, and homepage spotlight; 9GAG does not credit or reward original creators. Third, MemeDome offers AI-powered caption generation and a post-streak system that incentivises daily creativity. Both platforms let you browse and upvote memes, but MemeDome is creator-focused while 9GAG is viewer-focused.
Reddit is a general-purpose forum platform that hosts meme subreddits (r/memes, r/dankmemes) among millions of other communities. MemeDome is a purpose-built meme platform. The differences: MemeDome has a single unified meme feed rather than fragmented subreddits; MemeDome's daily battles have no Reddit equivalent; MemeDome's creator profile and leaderboard give individual creators visibility that Reddit's anonymous upvote system does not; and MemeDome's AI caption tool is built into the posting flow. Reddit has a larger existing user base but MemeDome offers deeper meme-specific features.
Instagram is a general photo/video social network where meme pages compete with travel, fashion, fitness, and brand content for attention. MemeDome is meme-only, so your audience is always in the mindset to receive and share humour. Additionally, MemeDome's battle system, points economy, and leaderboard create competitive incentives that Instagram's follower model does not. MemeDome also does not deprioritise reach based on follower count the way Instagram's algorithm does — new creators can trend on day one by winning a battle.
Twitter/X is a real-time microblogging network where memes appear between news, politics, sports, and advertising. MemeDome is a pure meme platform with no unrelated content noise. Twitter's ephemeral timeline means memes disappear within hours; MemeDome's indexed meme pages give each post a permanent URL that can rank in Google Search and be shared via WhatsApp/Telegram with proper OG previews. Twitter also has no creator reward system for meme content.
Facebook's meme content is distributed across Pages, Groups, and personal feeds with inconsistent reach. MemeDome provides a single dedicated destination. Facebook's organic reach for Pages has declined dramatically — posts typically reach 2–5% of followers. MemeDome's feed is not pay-to-play: quality content rises through community votes. MemeDome also has no advertising in the upload/battle flow, whereas Facebook's feed is heavily monetised.
For creators, MemeDome offers significantly more value than 9GAG: you earn points, compete in battles, build a credited profile, and get homepage spotlight for winning content. 9GAG does not credit creators and has no reward system. For viewers who only want to scroll memes without engaging, 9GAG's larger existing library may feel more familiar. For anyone who wants to be recognised for their meme-making skills, MemeDome is the better platform.
A meme battle is a daily themed competition on MemeDome. Each battle has a theme (e.g., 'Monday Motivation', 'When the WiFi Drops'). Users upload a meme that fits the theme. The community votes with thumbs up or thumbs down on all entries. When the battle ends, the meme with the highest net votes wins 500 points, a battle winner badge, and homepage spotlight. Battles reset every 24 hours with a new theme.
Go to the Battles page from the sidebar or navigation. Select the active battle. Tap 'Submit Your Meme', upload your image (JPG, PNG, GIF, or WebP up to 10 MB), add an optional caption, and tap 'Enter Battle'. You can only submit one entry per battle. After submitting, you can also vote on other participants' memes.
Every logged-in MemeDome user can vote thumbs up 👍 or thumbs down 👎 on battle entries (except their own). Each user gets one vote per entry. The net vote count (upvotes minus downvotes) determines the ranking. You can change your vote at any time before the battle ends.
Battle winners receive 500 points added to their account, a permanent 'Battle Winner' badge displayed on their profile, and their winning meme is featured on the MemeDome homepage. Winning memes also appear in the trending feed, which gives them significantly more views and engagement than regular posts.
MemeDome runs one daily meme battle. A new battle starts every 24 hours with a fresh theme. When no battle is active, you can subscribe to notifications to be alerted the moment the next battle opens.
You earn points through multiple actions: posting memes (base points per post), receiving likes on your memes, winning or placing in daily battles (500 points for first place), maintaining a daily posting streak (streak bonus points at 7, 14, 30, 60, and 100 days), referring new users, and being featured in the trending feed. Points accumulate on your profile and determine your position on the leaderboard.
The leaderboard ranks all MemeDome creators by their total points score. It updates in real time. You can view the global leaderboard or filter by country. The top creators each week receive additional recognition including homepage features and exclusive badges. The leaderboard is accessible to all users at memedome.com/leaderboard.
The streak system rewards consistent posting. Each day you upload at least one meme, your streak counter increases by one. At streak milestones (7 days, 14 days, 30 days, 60 days, 100 days) you earn bonus points and unlock streak badges. Missing a day resets your streak to zero. The streak system is designed to build a daily creative habit.
Badges are achievements displayed on your profile that signal your status and history on MemeDome. Types include: Battle Winner (for winning a daily battle), Streak badges (for consecutive posting days), Legend badge (for early adopters who referred friends before the 2,500-user founding milestone), Premium badge, and Top Creator badges for reaching leaderboard positions.
MemeDome accepts JPG, PNG, GIF, and WebP image files up to 10 MB per upload. You can upload multiple images in a single post (carousel format). Videos are supported for battle entries in compatible formats.
Yes. MemeDome includes an AI-powered caption generator. When you upload a meme image, the AI analyses the content and suggests captions. You can also enter a topic or trending theme and the AI will generate caption ideas. This tool is free for all users and is designed to eliminate creative block.
Yes. Every meme on MemeDome has a dedicated page with a permanent URL and proper Open Graph metadata, so it previews correctly when shared to WhatsApp, Telegram, Twitter/X, iMessage, Discord, and Slack. MemeDome also provides export options formatted for Instagram (square), TikTok (vertical), and general sharing — auto-watermarked with 'via MemeDome' so you always get credit.
Memes appear on the trending page based on engagement velocity — how quickly they accumulate likes, comments, reposts, and votes relative to their age. Winning a daily battle automatically features your meme on the trending page. Posting during peak hours, writing a compelling caption, and having followers who engage quickly all increase your chances of trending.
Communities are interest-based groups within MemeDome where members share memes and posts on a specific topic (e.g., Gaming Memes, Crypto Memes, Football Memes). Any user can create a community. Members can post, comment, like, and interact within the community. Communities have their own feed, member count, and discovery page.
Forums are text-based discussion threads where users talk about meme culture, internet trends, platform features, or any topic relevant to the community. Unlike the meme feed (image-first), forums are conversation-first. Threads expire after a set period to keep discussions fresh, and the community can vote threads up to keep popular ones active longer.
Yes, any registered MemeDome user can create a community. You choose the name, description, category (Gaming, Sports, Movies, etc.), and whether the community is public or private. You become the community creator with moderation powers. Communities appear in the community discovery page and can be joined by any MemeDome user.

Yes. You can delete your MemeDome account from the Settings page. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, memes, comments, and points. This action cannot be undone. Your username will become available for registration by others after deletion.
The Book of Legends is a founding-member programme. The first 2,500 users to join MemeDome and refer at least one friend during the early access period earn a permanent 'Legend' badge and their username is immortalised in the Book of Legends — a permanent page on the platform. Once the 2,500-user threshold is reached, the Book closes and no new Legends can be added.
